Robert graduated from University College Hospital Dental School in 1974 and followed his father and maternal grandfather into the profession. He has run two multi-surgery practices in both Ham and Wimbledon, the former for 42 years.

He has been chairman of a British Dental Association Section and was Treasurer of the Kingston and Richmond Local Dental Committee for nearly 30 years.

He has been married for 45 years and has 3 daughters and 9 grandchildren. He has participated in 16 international charity bike rides all over the world. His hobbies include playing golf and cricket and is president of a cricket club.
