Root Canal Treatment (Endodontics)

This is needed when the nerve in a tooth has been damaged by bacterial infection or trauma. The treatment aims to remove the nerve tissue from the nerve canals inside the roots of the tooth. The nerve chamber in the centre of the tooth is accessed and the channels in the roots are cleaned and shaped to remove the nerve tissue and then disinfected and filled with a restorative filling.

The tooth may need crowning following root canal treatment.

Dental Extractions

These are done if you have a broken or decayed tooth which is unable to be restored.

The dentist will advise you if they feel your tooth needs extracting and how the tooth may be replaced in the future.
